5 Things We Learned From Game 2
May 23, 2009
Five things we learned from the Cavs’ last-second win over Orlando in last night’s Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.
1. LeBron James is a pretty amazing basketball player. Obvious, we know, but worth noting again.
2. The Cavs and Magic have played 96 minutes so far.
Out of those 96 minutes, Orlando head coach Stan Van Gundy has out-coached Mike Brown for 60 of them.
(And - as a huge fan of the Cavs head coach - that’s not easy for Junkyard to say.)
Unfortunately for Van Gundy, the final second of Game 2 is among the 36 minutes he’s been out-coached by Brown.
How do you NOT double-team James on that last-second shot?
3. It’s clear that 66 regular-season wins - many against NBA teams that were uninspired at best and sorry at worst - mean little when it comes to playoff invincibility.
4. It seems to take Orlando’s Hedo Turkoglu time to heat up every game.
But once he does heat up and starts shooting, man, is Turkoglu is one bad (hush your mouth, Junkyard)!
5. You can make all the excuses you want, but it’s amazing how many big NBA games - like Game 2 last night - are poorly officiated.
