5 Things We Learned From Game 3
May 25, 2009
Five things we learned from the Cavs' Game 3 loss to Orlando last night:
1. This may sound harsh, but Cavs point guard Mo Williams is showing every sign of being a “Not Quite Yet Ready For Prime Time” guy.
A decent player?
Sure.
But also one whose mouth and self-regard too often runs slightly ahead of his actual performance.
2. Hate to say it - again - but Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy has been out-coaching the Cavs’ Mike Brown.
That’s been a huge, huge surprise to Junkyard.
Heading into the postseason, we thought only Phil Jackson (Lakers) and Gregg Popovich (Spurs) might out-coach Brown in a playoff series.
3. Cavs forward Anderson Varejao hasn’t provided much on the offensive end so far.
But, man, does Varejao deserve bags of respect for the way he’s played his rear off against Orlando.
Besides LeBron James, Varejao is the one Cav who has dramatically enhanced his reputation as a player during the conference finals.
4. Does any NBA susperstar get less respect from referees than Orlando’s Dwight Howard?
Hey, that reality has been great for the Cavs - and Cavs fans - during this series
But it’s been amazing to see, all the same.
5. Why do we suspect that Cavs guard Delonte West has a big game in him that’s thisclose to busting out?
Could it be in Game 4?
Hmmm.
