Quit Your Bloody Whining!!!!!
June 21, 2009
Memo to those whining about the low-personality, secretive nature of new Browns head coach Eric Mangini:
Uh, don’t cry now.
You HAD a Browns head coach who bent over backwards to be friendly, open and respectful to the media and fans.
You HAD a Browns head coach who was gracious and classy from the day of his hiring to his eventual firing several months ago.
And what good did that get HIM?
When the Browns played well, you played down and dismissed the role he had in it - and gave most of the credit to his assistants.
When the Browns played poorly, you inflated and exaggerated the role he had in THAT - and put all of the blame on him.
You mocked his weight and his calm, soft-spoken nature.
You had a ridiculous conniption when - forced to pick between two unproven quarterbacks who had done nothing to stand out from each other in training camp - he elected to flip a coin to decide which would take first snap in a pre-season game.
(A pre-season game! You got that worked up about the first snap in a PRE-SEASON GAME! Seriously?)
And now - NOW - you’re moaning when you get the tough, law-and-order-get-out-of-my-way-I’m-a-disciplinarian-and-don't-care-whose-feathers-get-ruffled-in-the-process Browns head coach you demanded take over from Romeo Crennel?
What, did you think Mangini’s martial, “I AM the law” approach was only going to affect the players he coaches?
This is the coach you wanted.
This is the coach you have.
So, stop whining.
Stop pouting.
Stop complaining.
And just leave Field Marshal Mangini alone to do his thing, for now.
His way.
