3 Guys We'd Like To See The Indians Pursue: No. 1

Who: Paul Maholm (Cubs left-handed starting pitcher).

Why: He's pitching extremely well (4-2) for a Cubs team that won't be a contender this year. And while he's not known as a strikeout pitcher, he nearly has a 2:1 ratio of strikeouts (22) to walks (12).

How He Would Help The Indians: Maholm is a solid, proven left-handed starter who relies on off-speed pitching.

He'd be a perfect addition to an Indians rotation that's heavily right-handed.

And Maholm is making a reasonable $4.25 million this season.

He'd be a cost-effective addition for the Indians - and put them one step closer to playing post-season ball in October.

A Quick, Modest Proposal Regarding One Donovan McNabb

Does anyone ELSE out there like the idea of the Browns:

a. trading away one current quarterback (Colt McCoy);

b. dumping another current one (Seneca Wallace);

c. signing veteran QB Donovan McNabb (who's available, lighter and drawing raves from his old coach);

d. reuniting McNabb with Browns offensive coordinator Brad Childress (McNabb's former OC in Philadelphia);

e. giving McNabb a fair, legitimate chance to push Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden for the starting QB job - as long as McNabb agrees to selflessly accept a backup role, if necessary?

Well, Junkyard sure likes the idea!

10 Way, Way, Way Too Early Predictions On the 2012 Browns: Nos. 1 to 5

1. Rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden (pictured) will not only start Opening Week, he'll take every snap behind center during the 2012 season.

2. Veteran quarterback Colt McCoy won't be on the Browns' Opening Week roster.

3. Season stat line for running back and first-round pick Trent Richardson:

1,250 rushing yards. 4.0 yards per carry, 9 touchdowns. A third-place finish in NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.

4. The Browns offense will be significantly better than in 2011 - but the defense will regress slightly.

5. Veteran running back Montario Hardesty will be among the major roster cuts prior to Opening Week.
